"Their punchy fast paced music, is pure fun. Its fantastic violin and saxophone combinations compliment the equally impressive 2 part lyrical harmonies perfectly."
(Andy Austin-Worthy, Hutchin's Live)
Folk-roots sensation the Tatsmiths burst onto the Brighton music scene in spring 2009. They quickly gained reputation for their fresh, punky, folk-pop sound and their raw, outspoken and often funny lyrics. Fronted by Zora's powerful, gritty and soulful vocals, the Tatsmiths have been leaving revellers with a lingering earworm and a rhythm in their step throughout the southeast and further.
Starting 2010 with a fantastic performance at Brighton Pride, and moving on to playing at events such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, Secret Garden and Brunswick festivals, they then finished the year by recording their second EP, The Casablanca Sessions. 2011 saw them gracing stages at events like Strawberry Fair and Boomtown, not to mention finishing the summer by playing at the notorious and awesome Chai Wallah's at Shambala!
The following colder months have been spent delighting their loyal fans, inspiring new ones, and taking their audacious yet charming songs around the southwest once again. The crew are looking forward to a storming 2012 which they kicked off by recording their first 5 piece studio album, due for release in April. Currently looking forward to a promotional tour and a bumper summer of gigs and festivals, the Tatsmiths are already confirmed for Bearded Theory, Boomtown, Frome folk festival, Brighton's own Paddle round the pier and many more.
Current line up includes members of festival favourites Los Albertos and Tragic Roundabout on sax and drums. Complementing the original folk/punk trio to create the Tatsmiths' signature sax and fiddle blend with a fusion of gypsy and reggae grooves on which the bold harmonies dance along with you.
